Postcode Places Trust Round 3 Overview
Round 3 for Postcode Places Trust opened on 24th September at 9am and closed on 2nd October at 10am. From Round 3, there were 70 successful groups, with a total funding amount of £1,069,422 distributed. This overview will hopefully give more insight into applying to Postcode Places Trust in the future and will include information from throughout 2024. Please note future funding rounds are not guaranteed to have the same success rate, as this changes with the level of demand of each funding round.
Each application goes through a thorough assessment check, we use an internal scoring guide that is used for application assessment and will consider funding priorities when rounds are oversubscribed.
Overall Numbers
In total, 217 applications were received in Round 3 from organisations applying to Postcode Places Trust. 70 of these were successful, 114 were unsuccessful, 30 were deemed ineligible and 3 were withdrawn after submission. This produces a success rate of 38% of eligible applications received. There was a slight decrease in application numbers compared to Round 2 where 228 applications were received by the Trust. The below table outlines numbers for Rounds 1, 2 and 3.
Funding Priorities
Our funding priorities are different to our funding themes. More information can be found in our funding guide on this. Postcode Places Trust was oversubscribed with strong applications in Round 3, meaning that our funding priorities were required to help with decision making. The more funding priorities a group meets, the higher chance of receiving funding with a strong application.
Our funding priorities are:
- Funding organisations with an annual income of £250,000 and below
- Funding for communities that rank as being within the top 15% on the English Indices of Deprivation
- Funding for groups that are set up to support people from the following minority/marginalised groups
- Communities experiencing racial inequity
- Disabled people
- LGBT+ people
Due to the level of demand, the 70 successful groups from Round 3 met either one, two or three of our funding priorities. Groups that did not meet any were unfortunately not able to be funded, even if they had a strong application. Although we were able to support some organisations that met 2 or 1 priorities, due to the demand other factors were considered in this funding round that meant not all groups that met 2 or 1 priorities were funded.
Common Eligibility Fails
Out of the 48 applications that were deemed ineligible throughout 2024, eligibility issues included:
- The organisation applying are a smaller branch of a charity already funded by a Trust supported by People’s Postcode Lottery.
- The organisation’s objects were solely religious
- The organisation’s governing document did not meet our standard
- The organisation applying were a schedule 3 CIC
- Over 50% of the organisation's Trustees or Directors were related
